🌱 Should I Create a School Garden Course for Teachers?
Hi! I’m gathering feedback on a new idea I shared in Episode 57 of the School Gardens with Ease podcast, and I’d love your input!
For years, I’ve supported elementary and middle school teachers with my done-for-you Oasis programs, complete lesson plans that make it easy to grow successful, curriculum-connected school gardens.
But now, I’m considering something brand new:
🆕 A course that teaches you my entire school garden method.
Instead of giving you ready-made lessons, this course will teach you how to:
-
📝 Plan your garden project
-
💰 Create a budget and get approvals
-
🌿 Design a garden that fits your space and season
-
🎯 Integrate the garden with your curriculum
-
🛠️ Source materials and organize tasks
-
🌞 Grow with almost no summer maintenance
This would be the first time I teach the full method—something I’ve never done before.
👩🏫 Who is it for?
-
✅ Elementary & middle school teachers
-
✅ High school teachers too!
-
✅ Any teacher who teaches a class (same students) every day or at least 3 times a day and wants to grow a garden with that class
💬 What do I need from you?
Before I create it, I want to know if this is something you actually want.
Your feedback will help me decide if I move forward.
👉 Please take 10 seconds to select one:
✅ Yes — I want this!
🤔 Maybe — I’m not sure yet
❌ No — Not interested
Thank you so much for your input! 💚

I'm Leila Mireskandari
Founder and Director of Kids Growing City.
I've been growing food with kids since 2013, full-time, starting with my own at home and teaching at a small afterschool program in their school. I never knew that this mission of teaching gardening skills to kids would soon take over my entire life.
I got a Master's degree in Environmental Studies (focused on food growing Permaculture education), along with a Business and the Environment diploma from Schulich School of Business and an Environmental/
Sustainability Education diploma from York University. I also hold a Permaculture Design Certificate as well as a Landscape Design Certificate.
Most importantly I have been growing school gardens for well over a decade and have worked with 1000s of students and 100s of teachers during that time.
